Day 2: Nairobi
After an early breakfast our drivers will pick us up from The Boma Hotel at 7:00am and depart for Nairobi National Park. This unique wildlife sanctuary is just a few kilometres from Nairobi’s bustling city centre, despite its proximity, many different species of mammals are found in the park. Of the big 5 only elephants are absent from this park. There is a large number of both black and white rhino which are both rare to see in most African national parks. Also found in this park is lion, leopard, cheetah, cape buffalo, masai giraffe, ostrich, Thompsons gazelle, zebra and much more.
We depart the park at approximately 10.00am and drive to David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage where we will spend 1-hour watch and photograph the baby elephants at feeding time and play together in the mud pool. At 12pm we take a short drive to Nairobi Giraffe Centre. Here you get a chance to see the giraffes up close and even hand feed them on the platform or from ground level. There is also a 1.5-kilometre walking trail with plenty of bird species. There are also smaller animals on the trail such as squirrel, warthog and the world’s smallest antelope species dik-dik. There is also a teahouse where you can relax and have a drink while watching the giraffes, and a large souvenir shop. All proceeds at the Giraffe Centre go to charities which either help conservation or the underprivileged. Later return to our hotel for lunch and a relaxing afternoon.

We check in the unique 4 star Aberdares Ark Lodge. This amazing lodge was inspired by the story Noah’s Ark and is built in shape of an ark. There is a waterhole with four balconies overlooking the waterhole as well as an underground hide at waters edge. This waterhole is very busy year round and often has African elephant and Cape Buffalo visiting regularly.  After lunch we take an afternoon game drive through Aberdares. This unique park is one of the best places in Kenya to see leopards, African wild dog and Giant forrest hog, all which are rare to see in Kenya. Other common species include black rhino, bushbuck, waterbuck, baboon and eland. Some rare species found here include suni, side-stripped jackal, duiker, bongo.
